Improve your self esteem

Is your self esteem low? Are you not living up to your potential?

Then let’s have a look at the messages that you received as a child.

The way how you see yourself is closely related to the way how your parents, peers and teachers saw you when you were a child.

The messages that you received may have been so strong that they seemed like the truth. I will list the statements that are popular in our culture.

In the following, MARK THE STATEMENTS THAT HAVE AN EFFECT ON YOU when you read it now. You can choose between a strong, medium or low effect. If there is no effect just leave it open

You can’t do that
You aren’t good enough
You’ll never make it
Who do you think you are?
Don’t rock the boat
Others know/are better than you
Play life safe
If you want to be loved, earn it first
If you would just be like ,
You can’t trust life/people
Don’t! It’s dangerous/too risky/unsafe
Why try/ Why bother/ It’s no good
Life is just a struggle/ is meaningless
It’s your entire fault
You are too much

Have a look at the list. How many did you mark? How do you feel about it? How often is your inner voice now giving you these messages?

Did you notice how the energy just drops down when you hear anything like that? Every time your inner voice is repeating these old messages, your energy will drop down and you will feel depressed.

Such sentences weaken the body-mind-system, no matter if others say them to you or if you now repeat them to yourself. For the brain and your organism, it doesn’t make any difference. This is the bad news.

The good news is: You can change those messages. They are not the truth although they may feel like it when you look at your life’s experience. The world will reflect back to you what you believe about yourself. And that’s equally true for depressive and life-enhancing beliefs.

Believe, me, THE KEY TO CHANGE YOUR EXPERIENCES IS not out there. It’s IN YOU. It’s in the way how you see life.

I want you to see life at its very best. This will not only make your life better but have a positive impact on all of us. We are all connected.

Good health, bad health?

Good Health or bad health is not just a question of destiny. Our thought forms play a vital role.

As children, we get taught a lot of attitudes that later on influence our bodily and mental condition.

Here are some cultural ‘favourites’ that you may have heard as a child

  • Don’t be such a wimp. It probably isn’t as bad as you make it sound
  • Poor health is a punishment for bad deeds (for not being perfect)
  • Don’t get sick. We can’t afford that in our family
  • The body isn’t important. Your mind/intelligence/performance is important
  • As long as the body functions well, why bother? There are more important
    things in life
  • Looking after your body/sport/sleep/health care is a luxury and egoistic
  • Those who are healthy haven’t really worked in their life
  • Sick people have too much time or too much money
  • Don’t complain. Others are much worse off than you
  • Aging means disease
  • What comes by itself goes by itself
  • If somebody is sick, it’s their fault

Are any of them familiar?

Feel free to write down those messages that have been important in YOUR life.
Those messages have power.

This doesn’t mean that you have to be a victim to them. You have the power to change them.

You can change them using your mental capacity or shifting the energetic structure that are holding those thought forms in place.

Overcoming depression and building your self esteem

Building self esteem and self confidence is crucial for a self empowered, healthy and fulfilled life.

Self esteem is more than the normal “ups and downs” that you experience when life doesn’t meet your needs or rewards you for your efforts.

Self esteem is a basic image that you hold about yourself and that developed and evolved through experiences during your childhood. Your self esteem reflects how parents, teachers or peers valued your successes and failures.

If you look back at your childhood:

Were you often harshly criticized, ridiculed or teased for failures in performance such as getting a poor grade or losing a game? Were you expected to be “perfect” all the time?

If so, remember: We as human beings have to make mistakes in order to learn and to improve ourselves. Don’t take a mistake as being a devaluation of your whole self.

Low self esteem can hide behind a facade of looking happy and successful. Underneath there is the terror of failure. If you feel driven to continuously produce successes watch out. Such efforts often lead to burn out.

The cross with the cross

You may know the story of the man who was fed up with carrying his cross around any longer. He went to a shop, which had many different crosses in its stock, and offered his cross in exchange.

“That’s okay”, said the shopkeeper, “Just look around and select a new one.” He walked around and tried many crosses. One pressed here, another pressed there, one was too heavy, the next too thin, the third too worn, the fourth too new. After a long search, he finally found a cross that was tailor-made. Glowing, he went to the shopkeeper.

“I’ll take that one”, he said happily.

The shopkeeper agreed, nodding his head.” This is the cross you came in with.”

Moving beyond suffering

A participant in one of the distance courses wrote

“Hi, Ulla,

I would like to let you know how I have been feeling this week. This weekend
I was very depressed. I have had to work hard with myself to lift it.

I went for a long walk, took a flower essence (mustard), and made myself do
some socialising. I,m not sure whether this depression is linked to the H.R.
or just life’s circumstances. As I mentioned before my friendship with a male
friend was looking like it might be developing into something deeper. I have
been waiting for him to contact me, and sort of expecting that he would do so
at the weekend - however he didn’t, and I was disappointed by this, and I
think I was depressed because of that. “

Relationships nowadays are a school for growth. Many of us suffer through this. This doesn’t need to be the case. We can shift those patterns with the technology that is available today.

The “I” disease

If these words were removed from most people’s conversation
they would have nothing to say.
